On the front one can read H. Berlioz and Estelle on the respective images; it is signed on the back with the initials LR.

 

Issued in 1969 by the Association nationale Hector Berlioz to commemorate the centenary of Berlioz’s death

The inscription on the back is a quotation from Berlioz, it reads: 
Je suis pour la musique libre oui libre et fiere eT souverainE et conquerantE

[I am for music that is free, yes, free and proud and sovereign and all-conquering]

This medal was engraved by André-Henri Torcheux.
