Berlioz Odyssey – London 1999-2000

Homage to Berlioz – Utrecht 2003
This festival took place between 17-21 December 2003 and consisted of concerts and other activities. Our friend Pepijn van Doesburg, who was actively involved in the organisation of the event, kindly arranged for a copy of the festival booklet to be sent to us at the time. We thank him sincerely.

The Cast
The first complete
performances of Berlioz’s epic opera in Paris took place
at the Théâtre
du Châtelet in October 2003, conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner – almost exactly 140 years after its
première in a truncated
version at the
Théâtre-Lyrique in November 1863.
