We are delighted to have received the award of a Berlioz Society Medal, which was given to us at a meeting of the Society on 22 June 2014. We are very honoured to find ourselves in such distinguished company as Sir Colin Davis, David Cairns, Hugh Macdonald and Dame Janet Baker, the previous recipients of the medal. We are very grateful to the Berlioz Society for this award.
To quote from a letter dated 25 February 2014 and addressed to us by Lord Aberdare DL, Chairman of the Berlioz Society, “The award was instituted in 2012 as a mark of recognition for selected individuals who have made exceptional contributions over a sustained period towards the Society’s objectives of promoting awareness of, and enthusiasm for, Berlioz and his works.”
In connection with the award of the medal, David Cairns, author of the great biography of Berlioz and President of the Berlioz Society, described our website in the following terms:
“No one has done more for Berlioz than have Monir and Michel. The magnificent, mega-comprehensive website hberlioz.com created and maintained and updated daily by them is probably unequalled, certainly not surpassed, by any other such enterprise devoted to a great artist.”
